Crooked Keelbone, what causes this?

I have several chickens that I hatched this past summer that have crooked keels. Why has this happened? Is it a genetic problem or what?

I was hoping some one might answer this...because the pullet that mysteriously died seemed to have a crooked keel bone.

Sometimes, roosting on something sharp and too small to properly support the weight of the bird will deform the keel bone. It happens in the larger oriental game fowl when they are not given the proper sized (and shape) roosts.
