Crooked toe 9 week old pullet

She does seem to have the same toe on the other foot slightly curved as well. Do I just let her be at this point being 9 weeks? Or should I attempt to bandage?

I would leave the toes alone.

I have wondered about trimming nails on chickens. Is that similar to trimming dogs nails? (I trim my dogs) guessing it’s only needed if it’s touching another toe.

I trimmed to manage length. That needs to be done way before it reaches anything including other toes.

If you keep up the trimming once a month is plenty. Just take a little bit so you do not hit the vein.
Yes very similar to trimming dogs nails.

Just set a day of the he month....let's say the third of the month. Set a reminder in your phone and do not fail to do it. It literally just takes 2 minutes including wrapping the bird in a towel.

We had a baby Leghorn that we nicknamed Crooked because her toe. I gave her vitamins 2 times for 2 weeks then biweekly until we unfortunately lost her about 3 months later (along with several others) to a predator. Anyhow, we noticed a major difference within a week and by 5/6 doses we had to renamed her to Blessing.

I got the multi-vitmain from TSC & just gave it to each girl in the flock individually, so I could ensure she got the max dosage.
We have made this a time they got used to on Sundays (when everyone is home to help) weighing (to dose vitamins), giving them the liquid vitamins, trimming nails, and giving them a few moments of individual attention (checking for injuries or any other concerns).

:goodpost:

I definitely agree with weekly health checks.

Thank you @21hens-incharge & @Jackied84a was afraid to bandage her toes just because of her being 9 weeks. I’ll do the vitamins for everyone. I visit with all my babies everyday but it was hard in the beginning, I was also raising my friends 14 along with my 12 for the first 8 weeks. So needless to say, they didn’t all get as much attention as my first 9 (now 25 weeks) did. She took hers a week ago, so now I’ve been able to spend more time with each of my newbies, hence noticing the toes. Cross my toes she won’t have any issues in the future!

@Jackied84a my first flock got this in their drinking water every day, but with the 26 not as often as I should have. Was too tough when dumping their water every few hours because of all the shavings they kicked into it. They’ve been getting it now in their water everyday for a week now. The site you sent has a ton of different things to choose from. What exactly do you recommend? 4F4F73F4-70A9-4877-B859-C8B933455EA6.jpeg

Oh, I get it...completely!!! Our first flock I was very intentional about every step as they grew and as time went along I just started slacking off on a few things here and there. This is my first post, because this is actually something I have been intentional about the whole time with all of the girls and something I've experienced. Anyhow, I see it just like parenting... everyone has an opinion and life experiences... all I can do is get all the knowledge I can possibly get ahold of and make the best decision for me and my family (including all my pullet girls too!). Stepping off of my soap box now....

I bought "Rooster Booster Poultry Cell" from TSC. Its a big bottle. Smells horrible and stains clothing. But, it worked for us.
The reason I chose that specific one was because it had the highest safe dosage of Riboflavin, which I had read in a university study that said that low Riboflavin can be a cause of poultry crooked toes.
