I have another post with details on how we got here, but what are my options to provide relief for a hen whose crop is not emptying? It’s pretty big, she had it flushed at the vet yesterday and it filled right up overnight again. Vet is closed. Meds aren’t doing anything to immediately fix, she’s uncomfortable, and any time she puts her head down, fluid dribbles out.

Do I try and massage / tip her over to empty? I know there’s a chance of aspiration but I don’t know that I have an alternative. Ideas? I can watch videos of “how to” but want to make sure there’s nothing else…

Yes, it’s sour crop but the vet can’t tell me why. She said it could be Mareks, could be some sort of issue further down, etc. I’ve been giving her Monistat orally and she’s also on Amox from the vet - neither are doing anything yet but it’s been one day. She seems really uncomfortable with the crop how it is again after having been flushed and more comfortable yesterday (at the vet).

I also gave her Valbazen just in case. I’ve never seen worms, the rest of the flock is fine, and she was great until Tuesday - laying normally, acting fine, etc.
