Ok, so our elderly hen Wilma has taken sick. Noticed her slowing down within the past month but attributed it to the cold weather and old age, since she would get more active as the day warmed. Lately she has quit eating and drinking. Feathers fluffed, tail down and she won't move on her own.

After reading LOTS on this wonderful site we checked for an enlarged crop. Found a big swelling so massaged it and it decreased in size a bunch. She then started drinking more but is still awfully weak. I'm afraid she's done in, but was wondering just how long it takes for them to perk up some (if at all). We're minimizing food intake, some applesauce with a few drops of olive oil, or some mashed peas in water, and supplying water laced with ACV. We don't have a lot of access to chicken drugs or supplies here so any other ideas would be wonderful.

We are dreading pulling the plug on her and want to give her a little more time to come around but how much time might that be? Hate to see her suffering so...any help would be much appreciated!
