Crop issues need HELP!

Yes give food as soon as you notice your bird wanting to eat, just give them there normal diet because as soon as the impaction is gone they will usually just start eating on there own, they know when there crop is out of order so witholding food isint going to make a difference as they just stop eating anyways from my experience cause they can sense a problem with there crop. So how is your bird doing? , has the crop emptied yet?

YES! You saved my chicks life and I have gained an invaluable education on chickens and their crops. She is starving, a little skinny, but should I limit how much she eats?

My son and I prayed hard last night and shed some tears. I stayed home from work today hoping this would be the last ditch attempt to save her. THANK YOU!!!! THANK YOU!!!

I am soosoososso glad she is feeling better. Good job @polish hen ! I am going to keep this in mind for my babies if I ever have any problems!

That's awesome!!, and I'm glad I could help...and yes just let her have as much as she likes it's fine, she should be fine to eat as normal, techically if the impaction is gone it's gone so to speak and her crop should start working normally, and if ever you have this problem with any of you're flock members again just start with the ducolax right away, it's very very safe and you caint overdose your bird so not to worry! take care!!

I still feel very apprehensive

. I guess I won't really know if she is better until tomorrow morning, if her crop empties on its own with no aid from Dulcolax. I will continue to keep her on concrete until she is back to normal. Every time I let her go on the grass while I am hosing off their area, she goes crazy on the grass. So, I have been putting her in the kennel until the area is clean.

Thanks again Polish Hen.

Don't worry as the fact that her crop emptied is very promising, let me know if her crop is empty tomorow morning, I'm sure she'll be just fine, from what you've said about her going crazy for grass it sounds like she may have overdone it and that's common especially in young growing birds, they love to gorge themselves!

Just keep the grass in there area really short and that way it's less likley to happen again, oh and never feed grass clipping or let them get at long freshly mowed grasses

Sorry guys I had a really busy day yesterday. My husband is out of town and my daughter just started school. Yesterday she still seemed sort of weak but a little better. She was able to fly up on the table which she couldn't do the day before. This morning her crop felt pretty empty and she came running out of the coop for food and water. I watched her for 15 mins and didn't notice any neck jerking or vomiting. She seems a little stronger. After i pick my daughter uo from school i will get some nutri drench and probiotics to hopefully give her more strength. I'm hoping she is in the clear and better but she isnt 100% yet. Here she is today

Happy to hear that! It may take her a few days to be 100%. Compare it to how you feel after having the stomache flu. Especially if she had it for a while. I would just keep checking her crop morning and night for a few days to ensure everything's working well and keep her away from grass and scratch. Good luck!
