Crop surgery - Anyone know success rate?

I had a hen that had an impacked crop and i took her to my vet. He is a wonderful vet because he did the surgery and i helped and my hen recovered and lived to be thirteen years old. She had eaten hay that made the crop impacked. I put an idodine solution , that the vet sent home with my hen, on the place where she was cut open and stitched and kept her in a cage on the back porch until she was healed. The main thing after the surgery is to keep the chicken in clean surroundings and not put her back with the other chickens until she is healed.

I did crop surgery on my chicken a couple months back and she recovered 100% and is laying eggs again. Still waiting for most of her feathers to grow back but the other chickens are leaving the area alone. Took us 3hrs to do it.
