That is very impressive ! What about anesthesia? Wasn't she in pain?

I am concerned that my two silkie hens have very large crops. My oldest hen acts like she is starved. when I throw out food she just runs like crazy to it. I noticed her pecking bits of styrofoam off of an insulated piece of wall board which is nailed around the bunny lot. I bet she has a crop full of styrofoam. do you think it is hindering her from eating properly?
I wish I could operate myself. I read an article on line about a lady who took her hen to the vet and it costs over 300.00 to clean out the crop. I don't have that kind of money.

I just read about a "huge crop chicken" in this group and my chick has the same thing, so I followed what they did for that chicken and it worked very well.

Pretty much I massaged the crop for about ten minutes and it is 85 percent smaller. I think I was able to help pass some of the blockage, which in her case is pine shavings.

I've now pulled her feeder from the coop and we'll see how she looks tomorrow.

Good luck!

Matt
