Cross across the chest elastic or not? (saddles)

Are there any pros and cons to either? I've heard the criss-cross ones stay on better?

The ones that cross across the breast are the only ones that I can keep on my hens. Little houdini's.

I would use the criss cross ones. I've never had an experince with them, but they seem to hang on better than the others.
