The most golden ones (buff more than gold) were from buff over barred. There are pictures on the forum I just don't remember which thread.

Has anyone tried any crosses that are good egg layers and look nice

I've loved my white leghorn Mariana crosses. They lay almost everyday. Even my three year old! From my experience, anything with leghorn cross is a great layer.

here are my eggs today. Almost all are crosses. The top egg is from a wheaten ameracauna crossed with an EE hen.

I thought I should post some updates since they are looking like adults now.

BTW: That green speckled egg of yours looks awesome. I intend to "Throw in" some of the blue egg and speckled egg genes in the "mutt mix" in the future, I like how those eggs look!
