Cross Continental Friends!!!

i think you miss understood me. i do not plan on getting any hybrids only heritage breeds, but ones that are good for meat and eggs. i know most people when they say meat and egg birds they are talking about hybrids, but i do not mean that. there are many heritage that are good for egg and meat, plus i do not like the hybrids that much.

i know that game birds not all of them are aggressive towards humans and that it just depends on how you raise them. i did not mean that they are to aggressive towards me i meant towards other roosters. i plan to have at least two to three roosters because i do not plan to have separate pens i have one big area fenced off so that i can fit many inside and build on to it. that is one reason why i do not want the local birds.

the second reason is because they are too broody and if i want chickens for eggs it would not really help much if they are constantly trying to brood. i do plan to have a couple hens to hatch out eggs because they are good mothers and well they love to brood like i said and the female hens are nice.

the third reason i do not want them is because they are bantams and i want big birds that are good for meat. i want birds that will provide a lot of meat enough to where i can feed everyone in the house and if i have enough maybe feed some to the dogs or cats. the bantams, they are small maybe enough for four people MAYBE but they would not last two or three days or more.

i will have some NN's.

today i partially cooked a pernil over a fire i made outside in the yard. i do not know what gave it its flavor but i guess maybe the wood that i used from the trees around the land and coconut palm must have been why. it taste almost sweet. it started to rain though so we had to rush it into the oven.

i changed my mind on chickens, by the time i can actually finish the coop it will be awhile so i think i might go for ducks. that way if it rains i do not really need to worry about having the whole roof up on the coop sense most ducks like the rain.

the ducks that i am wanting to get are pekin and rouen. both are good for meat and egg and i like the way they look when they cross together. i know they make noise, but i do not think that it is that much of a difference than chickens. my neighbors have ducks and chickens and i hear their roosters more than i hear their ducks. ducks also seem to have a lot more flavor than chickens which is also good because i eat chicken a lot so a change in taste would not be so bad and also the fact that they like rain is a bonus because i know i am not going to be able to finish the whole entire roof any time soon. i do like both ducks and chickens the same though. both are just as entertaining and cute.

Hi Everyone! I love my ducks! They seem to laugh at the right time at me! Their quacking sometimes sounds just like a drunken laugh!
So how's things going, we're all fine, with 48 chicks and ducklings we lost 3 chicks and 5 bunny's. I hate to lose the rabbits cuz it's a big hunk of change I lose when even one of them die's. But you never know why they die. Sometimes Mom lays on one and kill's it flat or eat's it as soon as it is born. So now I give them Gatorade for the month their pregnant and that seems to help in a big way! I have all but one bunny left to sell and their old enough to go to their new home come July 7th! So That's a good thing!
How's your farm coming along, and yes the ducks can take the rain a lot better then chickens can! We're going to be culling the ones that arn't laying any more. I'm done letting them live here till they die. I'm going to be making mash for them to eat to help me save some money on feed. If you'd like I could send you the recipe next time!
Well enjoy, have a great summer y'all!

Well I hope you have more luck with this one than the last! No guy died for me so you must be talking to Bill. I wish Meagan would hop in every once an awhile. I miss the old gang!

what happened to the guy in the video did he die? is he the same guy in your picture or is that just you :D

today my new fridge comes hopefully.
