Crossbeak getting picked on?

Sounds pretty good....does she have trouble eating with the bad beak.....is she of good weight/bulk?

Donrae's Q about age and molting is a good one.

She seems to eat well and I trim her beak to help her with eating/drinking. She is thinner than my other birds but not sickly. She is overall healthy and lays an egg nearly everyday. She is about 7 months old. I don't remember my production reds molting the first fall I had them...that's why I didn't consider a molt. Do young chickens molt their first year?

most of the time chickens do not molt their first year. It's rare that they do but possible.

Not
Not so much, no. If she were a year older I'm thinking that would be your issue. Have you been able to observe pecking?

No. but I've seen the two go after her before. And when I'm up there, I see her run by to get around them as fast as she can. My coop is not in eyeshot and I have two babies and a full time job. So unfortunately I can't spend as much time as I'd like to with my ladies.
