Hello!
This is "Sunspot", she was rescued on June 12th and looked maybe 2 weeks old at that point. She's a barnyard mix, Silkie, Ancona, Polish, and about a hundred other breeds. She was sexed by the one & only, "Fran the Chicken Lady" as a female, about a week after being rescued.I
At that time, I purchased two banty Cochin chicks, and one full-sized Cochin chick, to keep Sunspot company. In this little flock of 4, Sunspot is both the eldest and the undeniable leader.
This morning, when all the other roosters we're going off, Sunspot started....making a weird noise that sounded like a crow! At first I thought it was Mr. Eko, the obviously-a-rooster banty. Nope! I peek into the laundry room, and there's Sunspot! Trying her best to crow!
So!
Was Fran mistaken...? Is this really a cockrel? Or simply a very interesting chicken?? Thank you!
@Overo Mare @azygous @Eggcessive and I'm not sure who else could help? @Kiki 🤗!

What do you all think?

Looks like a pullet to me. At this stage, a red comb would be visible. Pullets and hens can make crowing noises, and it's not uncommon. Sexual characteristics are on a spectrum, not tucked neatly into little file categories.
