It's too bad the USPS can't ship items marked like this:
BIOHAZARD
Handle with care
I bet they wouldn't kick that around.
I know biohazardous items can be shipped, hospitals, labs, and research facilities do it all the time, but I'm sure it's FedEx or somebody that does it. Seems if they ship biohazards, they'd ship ordinary eggs. They ship frozen foods and perishable items.
Anybody know what the cost is to ship eggs with FedEx? That might be the best way to go, if the eggs are coming from an area you can't seem to get eggs sent from without scrambling them. And ask the shipper if they'd please tell the local PO that they've decided to ship FexEx, and why.
I received a box of eggs marked "FRAGILE", with a big dent in the top of the box, right next to the word, "Fragile".
Some were broken, I don't remember if it was 2 or 3, it's been awhile.
My local PO is great, they really do the best they can, and they get very upset about the decline in shipping, because they're afraid the PO will become obsolete and eventually be shut down. That would be a great loss, IMO.
Filing claims/reporting bad handling from both ends of the transaction, as another member posted, might be very effective. Most PO workers really don't want to see their jobs go away. Making noise about it might encourage some internal policing of the problem.
