For those of you who helped me and may have been wondering--the egg I crushed is hatching, as I type. I've watched it anxiously and seen movement since the day I crushed it, and then it pipped normally, zipped FAST, and is busy pushing on the cap to get out. It looks like a black.
Woo-hoo!
I'll post pictures as soon as it's hatched and I get a chance.
Edited to add: The egg in question was crushed partially on Day 24. Today is Day 29. Of 13 eggs set together, the crushed egg is the second to hatch. So, apparently, crushing it in the last few days does not always adversely affect hatching.
I would be watching the hatch myself, but there are five of us wanting to see & only two windows, so I've decided to let one of my sons and my husband have this hatch, and another son & I will watch the next. Then the baby, who insists on taking up the entire top of the incubator to watch, can see the next. It's killing me knowing the hatch is progressing and I can't see it though, lol!
