Crusting around eye

Hi all,
Advice needed. I have a hen who has an eye that has a dry crusting coating around her eyes only. One is sealed shut. It is sort of a brownish color. She has no discharge or other symptoms. I took a wet cotton ball and wet it, and now it is open. What are potential causes of this and cures? Nobody else has a problem. Thanks for any advice.

I'm not great at chicken illness diagnosis, but I would suggest that you make sure you seperate that chicken from the others immediately until you figure out what it is. You don't want to loose your whole flock.

Gosh, she just doesn't have any of those other symptoms. Just a scaliness. Today, her eye is open after I cleaned it yesterday. Thanks for your reply. It seems more of a skin thing than respiratory.
