CSU - Chicken State University- Large Fowl SOP

  • We'll give our judges the rest of today and tonight to post any comments or judgements on the New Hampshire. If they wish to point out anything, they can. If any of the breeders wish to draw circles on their own bird, and make comments, they may.

  • Tomorrow? Rocks. Any APA accepted variety in Large Fowl. (No projects, please) With this caveat. Let's try very, very hard to limit ourselves to the BEST display photos. I can easily see this becoming swamped with photos to the place of making it difficult to folks to discern the talking points.

  • Less is more on the photo postings, OK?

If we all edit ourselves, this will work better.

Yeah this never got off the ground the way I had it figured to take place, anyhow its new and we're learning. That's why I said maybe we can come back to the NHs once things get rolling.

Jeff

We may have to have a participation requirement. All breeder posts must also describe their work when uploading photos. We want to hear of their work, their struggles, their successes and joys in bringing birds along according the Standard for the breed. It is this from whence the learning springs.
We never intended this thread to be yet another pretty bird photo show.

When we discuss the SOP, and talk about the bird's features, we roll pretty good and I believe, most folks find the conversation something they cannot always hear on other threads. Here's hoping for a great Plymouth Rock segment. Personally looking forward to it.

ok, are we now open to post pix of Rocks? I leave for Canada tomorrow, so might have to post some from back in the Summer/Fall

Thanks

Sure, we can always back track to the NH if someone wishes.

That said, Please give some commentary when you post. The followers of this thread need you to describe your birds, your view of the Standard and your own critique of the birds, in light of the SOP.. Fair enough?

Fred, Walt, Bill, et al, I was wondering whether you might also be able to address some basic questions about breeding. I realize there is no way to know the lines represented in all the pictures, but from a general standpoint, if one wanted to improve something on a picture they post, could that be included in the discussion? I have virtually everything to learn, so every little tidbit I can glean from those of you with experience spotting and improving things is really helpful.

Given that you are from the south, I'm not entirely sure why you would choose this time of year to visit Canada. We are not at our finest right now. I can only assume you have a VERY compelling reason.

We've encouraged those who exhibit to discuss these very topics. If the exhibitors don't do so, ask them.
