WOW, I love to see that Partridge pattern. I had a few a couple of years back
In my opinion, those tails are definitely pinched

Fantastic thread.
I have a picture of split wing if you would like me to post it. (I saw the discussion about it on the New Hampshires)
I also have pictures of my barnevelders ready, when we get to that breed. I had some major setbacks in 2012 with them, made some changes and am looking forward to this year and hopefully it will be a better year.
thanks for the pictures, I just seen this in one of my young silkies and thought it might be split wing but have never seen one before. Mine looks like your last two pictures, will have to see how it carries its wings tomorrowUnfortunately, it was one of the many setbacks I have had in the last year. As I understand it, it is a recessive trait and needs a copy of the gene from the mother and a copy from the father for it to show in their wings.
Here is the cockerel with split wing - he was obviously culled. You can see here that his wing doesn't fold up right. Darn shame too, because he looked promising otherwise.
And when you spread his wings, you see this:

Sometimes it is because the birds are hot. I had thought split wing was caused by a missing feather, but one of my Barred Rocks has split wing on one side only. He has all the correct number of feathers, but wing looks like photo posted above. I took him to a show just because I wanted a professional opinion on him and sure enough, the judge said split wing.I have a question, I have seen alot of Wyandottes who stand with their wings dropped. Could it be split wing? All of mine carry their wings correct, but I have noticed a line that I have seen tons of pictures of and when I asked someone they told me the birds were just tired. I don't think that is correct. Can I hear opinions?
