OK, would you critique them yourself for us, please?   Gonna play, gotta pay!

The cockerel has a little longer back than I would want. You can't see it from this angle but his tail should be more open. I don't know if it's due to his young age, but it seems like the breast is not as full as it should be.

I'm not seing much of anyting wrong with the pullet other than the broken lacing on the tail.

I'm pretty much a novice and have checked mine birds against the SOP. I have my ideas, but would like an experienced eye on them and critique. Most pictures I have are of them on the move and there's a difference in their appearance, so I'm posting the best pictures I have. Thanks in advance.

Where did you get your Silver Laced from? The female on the bottom has nice eye color nice color in general you are not to far off. The male may be a little short in back but heck if you hatch out a bunch you may get a male or two that are longer. Got to start some where. Not many of these around anymore. I saw some the other night that came from Rick Hare line and Gard house in Canada. These are two of the top lines around. Thanks for the pictures.

These are from Foley, which were hatched May last year.

I have six cockerels that I'm still holding on to and five pullets that I'm keeping. Three of the pullets look like this one and the other two are pretty good.

I'm surprised that you would say the cockerel is to short backed. I'm thinking he is not the tighter heart shape I've been thinking I was needing. I have larger types with longer backs that I was putting at the top of the cull list. And I have smaller birds with the tight heart shape that I was going to use in the breeding pen.

When I see a Wyandotte male lets say 11 months old fully filled out he should be round like a circle. A rock should be gravy bowl or like a old derby hat. a R I Red should be oblong and brick shape. One thing you got to think about is what will he look like as a cock bird. This male to me at two years old will even be a little short I will try to find a shape of a Wyandotte for you a cock bird with the shape you should try to fix in your mind. Do you or have you seen Schillings black and white picture of a Wyandotte? These are good birds to have. I have seen one one time a male that was a killer. He won Champion large fowl and three minutes latter after the judge said he was top big bird he died of a heart attach. His sister then took over as Champion Large Fowl That was about two years ago.

The black and white image is from Frank Reese which was used in his juding exam years ago. Can you see the circle on the bird?

I've been looking at this picture off and on all day trying to see the circle. Honestly, my brain keeps seeing the heart and no circle. Maybe I've heard everyone talk about the heart shape so much that I'm not able to make that shift.

Maybe this helps....was from a post a few pages back

Sorry to keep throwing pics at you, but this guy was one was towards the top of the list as a keeper. (Sorry for the blood on him as he does not play well with others.) He comes close to the circle scenario in my eyes, but is his back long enough?
