Cubalaya Thread For Sharing Pics and Discussing Our Birds

OK now I'm confused...I thought the legs were supposed to be white even on the brown reds? My brown red guy has slate legs, Toomy the white. Toomy and Cowboy (fowlsessed's white stag) both have tidier combs than their sire.

Cap keep me posted, if your pair is getting serious about nesting I can give you some eggs to set.

I have a feeling there might be a cage among my camping gear if I attend the Nat. Speleological Society convention in Shippensburg, PA. It is the first week of August. I need to add some fresh genes to our little pool. Gallorojo how far is that from you? Any other cubalaya breeders in that area? Seems like there is a cluster of you over in PA.

the 2 birds are the same one just diferent angles at differnt times and that is what i thought it should look like but one judge just randamly said they needed to be smaller and more compact.

4hmom, I really like your guy's comb. It is more compact than any male birds I've had, but more than just a cushion. My guys tend to get a little wild/oversize with the free portion at the back.

actualy we are the only ones here with quality cubalayas, but there is a guy out here that has standards still it think. and part of why his comb is compact is he is a later cross between a cubalaya maylay cross.

Cubalayas should have nothing small about thier comb. It should be large and upright. Small combs are more for Sumatras.

Woods n Feathers-
Shippensburg is about 40 minutes from me. Pretty close in the big scheme of things. You are welcome to stop in then if you are that close!! Troyer lives about an hour east of me, and Zook and Bender live about 2 hours northeast of me. There are also some other people with the Cubes who aren't on forums. PA is a good state to be if you like Cubalayas!!:)
