Cubalaya Thread For Sharing Pics and Discussing Our Birds

I really like this male. Is it your best? How many did you keep? Is his tail filled in? I like how his tail is very low! Like the color too. He seems like he will have the lobster tail that I lack in my birds. Your doing well.
Zach

I have 11 cockerels from Welp. One has blue legs and one has 1 white wing feather, so they are culls. The other 9 look pretty similar to this one with minor differences. This one is one of the heaviest ( I have not weighed the all but he is visibly larger then most of them). Here is a couple group pics of them.

jungle, looks like you have a few birds to work with now

they look pretty good

I like the bottom right cockerel from the top view on the first picture. He seems to have a decent head too. They are looking healthy! Keep up the good work!

Thanks everyone. I really like them. Stan, are you sending me to find marbles for the marble cake? LOL! Is there really such a thing as tail grower supplement? I f there is, I had no idea that such a thing existed. That would be a good thing to know if I were preparing a bird for show.

My problem now is choosing which ones to cull. Aside from the obvious things like leg color and white feathers, the only other thing I have to judge by is weight. Well, one does hold his tail too high so he is a cull too. That leaves me eight bird to choose from. I think another day I will take pictures of all eight individually for you expert judges to look at and choose the winner. It will be like my own show in which I am the only contestant. I can't lose. LOL!

HAPPY 4th everyone!

Hi, okay I have been doing some reading and have seen Cubalayas often being referred to as Cuban games. So they aren't "true" Cuban gamefowl? I have been looking up stuff about true Cuban gamefowl but not finding too much on them. I saw a few things about Cuban gamefowl being referred to as red cubans, doms, etc. So those are the "true" Cuban gamefowl then?

ive heard cubalayas refered to as cuban games and thougt it was because what they were created from (OGs) and where they were created (cuba) had no clue there was a breed called cuban games.
