What color hens would make good mates for males that color?

i would breed the best red pyle male to the white hen. keep the most colorful pullets with good type and breed to that big white male. you would probably have to breed back to the wheaton side to keep color. the whites from me came from red pyles. a good red pyle is beautiful to see in the yard.

when i move cocks around for this fall's batch of chicks, will try to hatch a few red pyles. didn't like the last batch but will use a different wheaton hen this time.

Hatched late March out of a black cock and a dirty white hen. He has nice conformation so far, but he has yellow legs and beak so he's no good as a breeder for more cubalayas. I've got two others that look similar to him but they have white legs and beak.

This is a full brother to the above cockerel. He's pretty well the same size and everything, except his legs are a little thicker.

If I ever get ahold of some cubas I would want only one color variety for ease of keeping ( not having to seperate the different colors) but I like variety and so I was wondering if there are to colors (or more) that could be kept together and if they mix you'd get a recognized color (not just a mutt) kinda like red pyle and wheaton as mentioned in the above post. Sorry for the dumb questions.

Thanks,

Fowlsessed- Gold duckwing and wheaten can be kept together and will give you some wheaten, silver DW, and GDW offspring. Blue reds and wheatens would give you some of each also.

Troyer- those birds look good. Don't worry about leg color, use that as a tie breaker Between otherwise equal birds maybe. You can fix leg color later. You may want to consider this way of judging birds to keep and birds to cull. In order- Vigor, Temperament, Size, True Breed Type, and lastly color. Yes, yellow legs mated to yellow legs will give you all yellow, sure, but yellow with white or slate should get you mostly non yellows. If you get an awesome bird with a color fault, just breed it to a mate without the color fault. Ideally all your breeders would be perfect, but, it's not an ideal world. It looks like you ate making really nice progress this year.
