Cubalaya Thread For Sharing Pics and Discussing Our Birds

What would I breed them with? All I have is BBRed males. I don't know what to call the pullets I have. They are just a couple of the Privett birds that came out with blue legs and lighter feathers. They look like this (only much older now). I was told that they were Silver Wheaten by someone on here. I was kind of like, "Hey, I have these pullets I am not using in my BBRed line and this Idea cockerel with nothing to breed it to. I will throw them in a pen and see what happens."

I don't personally believe the pictured pullet is a silver wheaten. My opinion is that's its just a wheaten minus the dark factor that makes the standard Cubalayas hens the very dark color. I have had ones nearly identical to her, and, when test mated all were just regular wheaten.

Pretty all my information and everything I think I know on Cubas came from this thread. You know what they say, 'Garbage in, garbage out". I don't have the knowledge or experience to argue with anyone about what is what. All know is, breeding cubalayas is a lot more difficult then I ever imagined and the fact that their is not a clearly defined road makes it all that much more difficult.

Welcome to the past seven years of my life :) as long as you don't give up, you will get results worth waiting for. Hopefully I can get one bird to replace the loss of my two most important males. But that is part of nature. I just keep breeding for better results.

Thank you. I needed to hear this. I have been a little discourage here lately because my first year of breeding has rendered results that were far from what I expected. But it is hard to know what to expect when you know nothing to begin with, and then when you constantly learn that what you think you have learned is not quite right, it get's hard to learn to know what to trust to learn.

If you think that last sentence was confusing try this grammatically correct sentence. Try to figure it out before googling it. "Buffalo buffalo Buffalo buffalo buffalo buffalo Buffalo buffalo"

i feel like progress is being made by several people. don't give up jungle. here are some pics from today;

Oddity. He has white feathers except the hackle. I checked what feathers he had on his saddle and there were none. This was a very smoky chick. I'll keep him long enough to see what's going to happen.
