I have a question. My sister ended up with a blue red splash rooster...was supposed to bb red. What can she expect it to throw when crossed on blue red and wheaten hens?

When bred to blue red hens all the chicks will be 50% blue red splash and 50% blue red. When bred to wheaten they will all be blue red or blue wheaten.

If it is ideal hatchery bred there is a chance it may be a blue golden splash... Making it much more complicated.

Here's a new picture from today of my wheaten hen with her chicks. Pardon the state of her tail, she is moulting. One of the many things I love about the breed is they not only are great broodies, they seem to molt while their chicks are on the ground. Thus they are ready to lay when the chicks are reared.



The black bird in the center is presenting some interesting questions. It is half Black Jap/Asil, half white cubalaya. "He" is trying to crow already. But "his" saddle and neck feathers are quite rounded. Is there some hennie hiding in my game hens?

Her type looks very much like a Zook pullet.

Here is a decent looking brown red cubalaya grade. In the frontal head shot notice that his eyes don't line up horizontally, a serious defect but nice looking brown red otherwise. He is 5 months old.
