i completely agree i have just come very close i have a male with a realy nice tail but he holds it about horazontam so i breed him with a realy nice tailed hen who whods here tail low to try and fix it
To me most males will have similar tails regardless of lobster tailed or not. When you really see the difference is Chris's blue crowwinged male that has a tail as wide/or wider than the back.
True non wheaten wildtype pullet. I hatched 3 pullets like this, and a cockerel. I realize the color is a modified wildtype, most likely it has some sort of extra melanizers, Mahogany, and autosomal red. I think now after getting these birds my suspicions regarding what is Cubalaya dark wheaten are correct- they would be also extra melanized, Mahogany, and autosomal red. All the wildtype birds came from birds that appeared wheaten, but clearly were not pure wheaten. This pullet is fairly similar to a Welsummer coloration. I think her tail ought to be more spread, and that her beak is too long, but, she will be a big girl, and is split for mottling. She is around about 12 weeks old.
I have an order of Cubas on the way from Sandhill. I ordered 20 bb red and 5 white. They called and said they were sending 10 bb reds, 2 whites and 7 pyles. They advised that they would send me a second order from their next hatch. My question is can you tell any of these colors apart in the down? Thanks.
That depends. You can make certain colors more than one way. Generally my Pyle chicks are yellow / white with random black dots or splashes when first hatched, but that doesn't mean for sure yours will be that way. All my white chicks that are pure white have very light yellow/white down. The BBReds should be some version of yellow down, sometimes some will have a few faint stripes or markings.
Ok, thanks. Most look the same. There are some with spots/stripes on their backs and heads. A couple are very light but have a "dirty tint" to their down.
So far, there is a big difference compared to my Ideal chicks...not one DOA and very robust. These guys were pecking the shipping box and are eating like mad. My ideals were much more lethargic on arrival and a lot less active. I hope it continues.
I wanted to sticks with bb red to start but got 7 pyles that I didn't order as "warmers". If I cross the bb reds to the pyles what color(s) will I get?
