Cubalaya Thread For Sharing Pics and Discussing Our Birds

A couple more views of this little pullet.

Cockerel from same hatch:

It may look like stink eye, but he was making happy noises and full of treats, just got the beetle brow going on.

These boys and a white pullet were born in late June. The pyle was from an egg from Chris - he is huge, but his comb looks like a cushion or strawberry? The fellow behind him is a cubalaya/black jap grade.

Looks like a modified cushion/pea comb, but he is certainly not classified as a pea comb. If he has excellent type as he gets older you could breed him to a good pea combed hen and potentially produce some good pea combed offspring then get rid of him after you have chicks out of him, but I suppose he would also make good soup if you don't want to mess with cushion combs, as they can be difficult to get rid of, especially when the best offspring continue being the cushion combed ones.
Was his mother a blue hen?

I don't normally kill black rat snakes, but the broody in question is a black jap and she flogged the heck out of him with her spurs. I didn't think he would survive relo.
