No I did not raise any this year . Busy building a house / cabin .

Hey Jerry wondering if you had the opportunity to raise any more cuckoos? I started working on a crele line and got a handful of cuckoo girls split to partridge, they carry yellow leg gene for now. Heres a few still growing out, they werent hatched til late summer so they got a lotta growing 20201210_112445.jpg 20201129_134132.jpg edit** the roo is 2 years old

I raised a few so I can keep some breeders .

any more progress with getting slate in legs?
Always difficult . Best slate legs on lavender cuckoo . Cuckoo is best leg color on hens and single barring gene on cocks . So you have to show single barred males . Kind of cheating but that is as good as it gets . Allowances should be made for genetic quirks but nobody wants to . Other breeds ignore the problem . Barred or cuckoo in Polish and Belgian D'anvers are examples . Same problem but no fuss made about the leg color .
I have a theory about EB brown at the E locus . I think a black based on EB would solve the problem . Example with mottled that has the same problem . Looks at Millie Fleur Belgians . They are EB brown at the E locus . Good leg color . Perhaps black Wyandote is EB .

I noticed with this years hatch that single barred males did have more slate appearance, I came to conclusion I will just remove any yellow skin gene and focus on my egg color, and be content with white legs.

Thats good to know about the eb, I'll take note for future. Thanks for gettin back to me 👍
