Ok back to the eggs. The temperature is stable in the incubator from 99-100, and the humidity is 35.

Kristian, That was really rude. I see Katy on here all the time and she helps as many people out as she can. There was no reason for that. She has been an awesome person and has been here awhile. You just joined in febuary, please be respectful to her.

Yes young person you seem to be rather rude with people that are trying to be helpful to you. You don't raise humidity levels from day 1 to day 18, so it's best you read up on how to incubate eggs. Katy is a very knowledge wise in the world of hatching eggs and knows Marans rather well.

How rude of you .... being disrespectful to someone offering you assistance and advice. Katy is the one who "taught" me about humidity during incubation. Maybe you should listen.

I will also agree, the eggs you got are not Marans eggs. They have to be at least a 4 on the Marans egg color scale to qualify as a Marans. If I'm not mistaken, your eggs are not as dark as a 4.

Oh boy. I have read this and am very confused. I thought they would be called marans because they came from marans, not based on color. I have seen A LOT of eggs that light or lighter being sold as cuckoo marans. Can someone please clarify this for me.

Marans are named after the place I believe, and are not named for the color. Cuckoo is the name of the color (barred) There is also Wheaten, Black Copper, Birchen, etc.
