Cuckoo Maran or Black Sex Link?

I was given two hens about a year old. One is said to be a Cuckoo Maran but not sure if it’s a Hybrid and the other brown one im not sure. The Cuckoo one give me the egg in the attachment. Please help with identifying them. Thank you.

I'm not getting a strong Marans vibe out of her, though she does look more cuckoo'ed than barred (mussier looking barring than crisp). She may be a Marans mix. Her legs look more white (in the photo) than grey. She isn't French Marans as she doesn't have foot feathering. She could be...hard to tell.

She isn't a Black Sexlink hybrid. If she were, she would be solid black with red bleed through at the hackles and chest. The males in the cross linking are barred while the females solid black.

She could definitely be a simple barred hybrid of some sort. Her egg color is not on the Marans scale by any means, so she definitely is not a dark layer. But a lot of commercial Marans are not particularly dark layers...but they do tend to be darker than the egg you showed.

My guess is she may be a Marans mix? Or simply a barred mix.

Thank you. Im thinking they’re both hybrids. The cuckoo/barred one has white pink feet but looks too big to be a pure Cuckoo maran. Regardless they both lay so I’m happy to have them. Thanks for your input.
