Cuckoo Maran Rooster x (breed here) offspring?

Thank you! Here's question number 389! lol! So my Cuckoo Maran most-likely carries the dominant gene? So any one I breed him to (Buff Orpington, Buff Plymouth Rock, Blue Cochins, Black Jersey Giant, Black Australorp) they'll mostly come out Barred? lol, I think this was like the very first question I asked...kinda.

Yeah, I'm not sure Barring is technically called a dominate gene, but yeah, you got the basic idea, most anything your cross a barred/cuckoo roo with shoule produce all barred'cuckoo offspring in the first generation. Except if the bird is dominant white like a white leghorn hen, that would cause the white do mask the black barring and give white birds.

My Girls weren't very co-operative this morning when I took the camera out. They had egg laying in mind so I just hung out and shot about 125 photos of all of my chickens LOL
Here is the Cuckoo-Buff Minorca Cross lady, she's 9 months old

Here is the Cuckoo-RIR Cross lady, also 9 months old

Here is the Cuckoo-White Leghorn Cross lady, 9 months old as well

I was thinking that the white gal may be called a splash since she is mainly white with a few black barred marks on her but I don't really understand chicken genetics at all LOL

Oh and here are some of today's eggs so far:

I have approx. 50 laying Hens now so there will be more eggs when I go out to feed in an hour LOL
The white gal doesn't have a beard, she had her neck feathers rustled a moment before I snapped the photo. Glad you like the photos :)

Yeah that's like the most I've ever used smileys in a post. They get addicting, but can also be annoying

I have 1 Cuckoo Maran Roo - he's 18 months old, 1 Partridge Rock Roo, 2 Americana Roos (I am rehoming one of them). Then I have a Banty Partridge Wyandotte in a seperate pen with one PW Gal and 4 Buff Brahma Banties.
I haven't got any offspring from any of the roos except the Cuckoo Maran. My other roos are all just 7 months old, they're topping the hens already but I won't be hatching any of those eggs until later in the year.

I want to get some Cuckoo Maran and Lavendar Orpington hatching eggs this year. If I were to start fresh I'd go with just Orpingtons, they are by far my favorite breed. My Husband is crazy about our Cuckoo Maran roo and wants some CM girls for him.

Ha , I love being right, she is white with black spots just like I predicted earlier, the color is similar to Spalsh, but it's not, Splash comes from a blue to blue, blue to splash, or splash to splash mating only. The color you have there is from breeding with a dominant white hen, that makes the white mask the underlying colors, you should get the same colored birds, no matter what color you breed the white leghorn hen to. The White Cornish Rocks are also dominant white, back when I had some old hens of those and bred them to a RIR roo, all the chicks came out that color, white with black spots.

oh thank you! I really need to pay more attention when you Gals talk about genetics :)
Do you suppose this gal will hatch out white babies no matter which roo tops her?
