I have 18 hens and HAD 1 rooster. He became very aggressive towards me and literally tore up my hens. It will be a while before they re grow their feathers. I had to cull him this past weekend after he went for my face. He was a huge NJG.

The whole atmosphere in the flock is so much more peaceful but is it ok for them to not have a "leader" for a little while?

I will be hatching new chicks from eggs I got on BST in a couple weeks, no doubt there will be roos in there.

The pecking order will shift over the next few days or weeks, and one of the hens will move up to "head honcho."
