Sorry for so many posts but I just thought of something else...I know my local humane society will put all animals down for you for free.....if you have one near you, look into that.

Chopping block;
Sharp axe;
Practice hitting the same mark over and over until you are accurate
Two 2" nails driven about ½" into block about ½" apart (or so the head of the bird does not pull through);
Place the birds neck between the nails
Grab the bird by the feet and stretch it's neck ever so slightly
One hard quick accurate swing across its neck with the sharpened end of the axe
Severing it's head from it's body
Place body in a 5 gallon pail immediately due to nerve reflexes.

take a small garbage can cut a hole in the side,,,,,,,,, and put the bird in there, use a vacuums hose from the tailpipe of your car/truck and run it for few mins on idle..put a few holes in the top and make the hose long enough so it dont burn them from heated exhaust.. a few mins there gone.. there very sensitive to carbon monoxide.. and its not as bloody as choppin them .. You could use a cardboard box,, anything that will hold the gasses, and your done..

its done he lost an eye wasnt eating crop was burt from the inside so seed was going everywhere inside him and there was no opening from the his body somehow his crop burst from the inside and there was yellow around his eye and his head was wobble and wouldnt stand up properly so i had to do it he was going to die one way or the other atleast it was quick and he didnt have to suffer i just got a food sack and tightly held his head and his neck and just done it

Yup, sorry to say its a part of bird keeping,, sometimes it just has to be done, the suffering that has to end.. You did right... Sorry I know it sucks..

Sorry for your loss. Most of solutions on here horribly stressful, cruel, n time n labor intensive. hokam had only good idea, for others reference later. its a tiny bird, n all you should do hold calm n steady, petting n cooing too, hold gently as rub head etc and just pop/pull it off. no muss n fuss, stress or pain. you won't miss and know no suffering etc. just have something like bottom of milk jug cut off to put body in to drain blood down ito bowl if wanting to use blood n meat etc for human or animal consumption, or just have hole ready to put in to burry, or used grocery or freezer etc bag. its simple n need not be cruel complicated and labor intensive , n hope most were joking or just brainstorming n not horribly treating their birds! So chop off or pull off and then you know not prolonged painful and dead. decapitation kills quickly anything. oh for roller keepers note that bird may roll around after dead as reflex of breeds..
