Cup o' Joe and Tea Too

I was ruined from growing up in southern California where it was always 70 and sunny, lol. :gigEven when it warmed up there it was still nice because it was dry.
Here in Georgia the mid 80s aren't comfortable because of the humidity and don't even get me started on the 90-100 degree days :th...it's like living in a sauna and you really can't know just how uncomfortable it is until you're here, lol, I'm ready to move to the mountains! Ahh, I didn't even think of the humidity. That makes a HUGE difference! I couldn't image the really warm days, Yikes. I hope you and your chickens stay nice and cool!

My chick order is almost complete:celebrate Hoping a few more breeds become available for the hatch date I chose. Anyone here have Buff Brahmas? They're a breed I'm hoping to get🤞I've heard good things about brahmas.

I've never had them but have also heard good things. I've also read they are broody girls, so if that works for you, they might be right for you.

Yay!! Congrats on your chick order!

Brahmas are so sweet in my experience! Gentle giants! I don't have one right now but I've hatched them and they are very docile. I got the eggs from my friend's light Brahma flock and it's one of those super sweet flocks where you don't have to worry about the rooster. She has one huge roo that will walk up to you for visits like a dog. They eat a lot though. Always hungry, lol.

Yay! Congrats on the order! Hope you get everything you want!

I'm getting surprise chicks this year. Surly is sitting on 5 eggs that should hatch in a week!!! (Did I say that already??? I'm so excited!!) I love getting chicks I don't have to raise.

Let us know what you decide to order. And of course, we have to have pictures when they arrive!

I was told and I've read they can be broody quite frequently. That was a concern of mine but I've also heard how much people like brahmas so I'm kind of in a pickle.

Thank you!

I'm so glad you like them. People seem to love brahmas for their sweet personality, which is what I'm really wanting.

Okay good to know they eat a lot,Haha! They are definitely a larger breed so it makes sense!

How often are her brahmas broody?

Thank you, Val! I really hope I can most breeds I'm wanting. It's hard to get everything I want with only being able to get 10-12 chicks.

Funny story, orginally my plan was to only get 6-8 chickens and revamp a coop given to me by Meg. Then it turned into my boyfriend saying you might as well get 12 chickens. Now, let me back up and say he was adamant about me NOT get chickens, not even 2 chickens.

It gets better. About a week after I had orginally placed my chicken order, he said why don't we just build a new chicken coop. A 10x20 shed, half chicken coop and half storage for feed, etc. :eek:So, here we are today making plans for a new coop :lau Right now, I'm still going to revamp the coop given to me so I can use it until we get the new coop built (hopefully sooner rather than later).
