That's a fabulous plan! Bigger is better, and more than one is very convenient. There are times when it's necessary to separate one chicken for a while, either because of illness, attack or aggression. It's nice if there are two coops and a separate little run for the one separated out where she can be seen but not touched. Some people accomplish that in their one large coop.Thank you, Val! I really hope I can most breeds I'm wanting. It's hard to get everything I want with only being able to get 10-12 chicks.
Funny story, orginally my plan was to only get 6-8 chickens and revamp a coop given to me by Meg. Then it turned into my boyfriend saying you might as well get 12 chickens. Now, let me back up and say he was adamant about me NOT get chickens, not even 2 chickens.
It gets better. About a week after I had orginally placed my chicken order, he said why don't we just build a new chicken coop. A 10x20 shed, half chicken coop and half storage for feed, etc.So, here we are today making plans for a new coop
Right now, I'm still going to revamp the coop given to me so I can use it until we get the new coop built (hopefully sooner rather than later).
The guys do come around to the whole idea of chickens, given time to think about it.
