Cup o' Joe and Tea Too

I LOVE happy cows!!! It's really nice that you can get into the ranching business because of access to your in-laws property. That's how it's done, I understand. :)

Wow!! Your state is really reopening. A dentist appointment wouldn't be available with mine unless we had an emergency.

Its a blessing for sure. Its really nice we can do it as a family. Not sure what I would do if we didn't have cows! They are so fun to have around.

I know its really opened up 😬 Bars, restaurants, hair salons, doctors offices, retail shopping etc. Most things are opened now with social distancing guidelines and/or limited capacity. Starting June 1st, the 14 day travel quarantine will be lifted and bars/retaurants can move to 75% capacity. I'm grateful we have done well in MT to be able to do this!

Good morning, everyone!

Chicks are coming this week and I was wanting to start them on medicated starter. If any of you feed medicated chick starter, how long do you usually keep them on it? Could I feed it until the bag runs out then switch to a non-medicated starter? New chicken mom already stressing out :lau

Good morning, Rei. I keep my chicks on the med starter until I run out, like you suggest. However, I never have more than 3 chicks at a time. The chick feed does not last, so I use it up. If I were going by weeks, I'd go about 6 weeks, then switch them to all flock, which is what all my chickens eat.

So exciting to be getting chicks this week! :woot How many are you getting? What breeds?

Well, it has worked for me for 4 years. I don't think I could handle watching one of my chicks go through Mareks, and I don't know how to vaccinate. I have never had Mareks in any of my chickens ever.

So, that's my 2 cents worth, but I'll give it away for free.
