Cup o' Joe and Tea Too

Thank you for the tea! It's sooo beautiful outside here today! It's 60°F with clear blue skies and a light breeze. 😍 I am one happy camper today and the by the looks of the number of eggs I got, the hens are quite pleased as well. lol

Yesterday I got my first 2 eggs of 2020!

Pretty blues! ...I actually have like 12 dozen eggs in the fridge, lol but the girls gave me 9 eggs today! I only have 12 laying hens, 1 is broody, and 1 is elderly so 9 eggs is a lot for one day!

I only have 5 girls and they'll be 3 in April so I suppose they're starting to slow down a bit. We've just had such a long nasty winter (not quite done yet), I'm just glad they've handled it all as well as they have. Sturdy little things for sure!

Well, got no yard work done but did manage to get a couple of crappy phone camera pics of the escapees.
The hen is more elusive than the rooster, extremely hard to get a decent pic of her. Still can't get over how his tail feathers are in great shape, they are about 6' long!

Yep, they got out of the pen one night! I have no idea how but both latches on the pen door were unlatched...and I know I didn't leave them unlatched. Anyway, they are the only 2 that have survived. The Red Goldens that were in the pen with them disappeared 2 days after they got out. These two have survived for 10 months now.
