Cup o' Joe and Tea Too

Good morning, thanks for the coffee IM!

About mosquitos, we get huge swarms of them every summer because we're close to a river. I can't use anything with Deet in it so last year I tried 2 different Avon products. The regular Skin So Soft lotion didn't do a thing to stop the skeeters but the Bug Guard worked pretty well.

That would be terrible! I've thought about ordering the Avon product too. Really mosquitoes are the only real bug problem we have. They can make it impossible to enjoy sitting on the deck on the warmest days of the year. If there's a breeze it's fine, but look out for those still, warm days. Obviously we can spray ourselves with Off! which is mostly chemical and it works, but then I have to come in and shower it off. I hate that stuff. Even the organic version. I'm trying this one this year.

I agree, Off is terrible. Makes my skins very itchy. I keep it around for emergency cases but I usually use a naturally made repellent from the Natural Grocers. It works very well and isn't full of chemicals!

Morning, everyone! Thanks for the tea, IM.

Expecting some rain showers tonight into tomorrow morning. Let's hope it says rain and doesn't turn into white stuff.

I've only ever looked at Avon products a few times. I didn't know they have a Bug Repellent. I would like to try and make a homemade spray this year. The natural spray I use works well, but it can get spending when you use it a lot.

For skeeters I spray my yard with concentrated garlic juice. The grass, block walls, shrubs, all of it.

I wonder how much I'd have to mix up to do the golf course? They get so bad there, grown men whine.

The maintenance guys do spray periodically, but then the wind blows and shoos the mosquitos right back from across the river.

We're also supposed to get showers with a chance of snow tomorrow night. I'll go along with your hope that the white stuff stays away!

The link I shared for the cedar oil spray has a commercial option.
