Those chickens sure do want to see what's on the other side of that fence, Chickie. I have to agree with them that the grass looks a bit greener.

The grass, or weeds I should say, in my chicken run are out of control! I think it should be cut down, but I see them wandering through the tallest parts. They seem to love it.

Hi Val, how are you feeling today? My flock loved the tall weeds we had their first year. I'd go outside to check on them and they'd be wading in, picking seeds and flowers off the plants.

I feel good! Thanks for asking. This is quickly healing now. The best news is, I am losing weight. Obviously this tumor was taking the nutrients out of my food leaving my body to hoard whatever it could get hold of. I've been dieting for over a year with no progress, now it is coming off easily and I'm eating exactly the same way. I'm a bit excited about that.

I have to admit, my chickens do love the weeds. Also the berries are overgrown, and will remain so this year. I certainly cannot go out and trim them. That means lots of berries for the chickens. Of course they are eating them while they are green. I tell them to wait, but they get too excited when they see one and can't help themselves.

Summers are good for the chickens. They roam the little orchard and berry patch all the day long.

It depends on the soil whether the flowers are pink, white, or blue. This has to do with the alkaline or acetic pH.

That's true. Mine start out blue, but as they dry or get older, they turn green and purple. Great for drying! One of my favorite flowers for sure!

Another pretty and sunny day here. I'll be spending some time watching chickens. Time to let Lucy 2 meet the rest of the flock. Turns out Lucy 2 doesn't look like Lucy, who was a BO, at all. She is definitely a RIR. Who stuck that egg under Surly?

Speaking of Surly, she is broody again, but her eggs aren't fertile. I'll open the gates between the runs and perhaps that will be remedied.

Girlie Girl and Gertie are broody too, but they keep switching what eggs they are sitting on, according to DH. I'm not sure what's up with that or how it will turn out. Girlie Girl finally gave up on 4 eggs, so DH got rid of those. Now she is on others, but then the two girls switch places. Is this normal? Are they confused? Today I'll go in and take a look at them, but not sure what I can see.

I finally got to see them all for a bit last night. First time in a month!!! I have missed them!!!

I am so glad you have been able to go to the coop to see your flock. How are your guys doing? I know you had one isolated.
