Cup o' Joe and Tea Too

That's so cool! Didn't realize your yard isn't fenced. That's one thing that's very different here in the west compared to the rest of the country. Everything is fenced or walled.

The back is currently fenced but it's chain link and in sorry shape. It needs to be replaced any way so we're going with 6' high fencing. That should work with my golden age girls.

Yep. That's how it was in CA. So weird the first time I went to see DH parents in Illinois and their neighborhood had no fences. I was thinking, 'where's the privacy'? We don't have a fence around our property here, but our privacy is acreage, trees and shrubs. I think it would be very strange to BBQ in the backyard with a dozen of my neighbors BBQing in theirs at the same time.

Just goes to show you, we are a product of our environment in so many ways.
It's a strange difference that's for sure. I used to think the same thing about privacy, don't think I'd like a place without it.

Ah, gotcha. Are you putting up something for privacy or replacing with chain link?

Actually the old chain link is the neighbor's fence (sorry for being confusing). We're going to put up the 6' fencing next to it on our property line. Partly for privacy and partly to keep the flock protected. All the surrounding neighbors have yappy little dogs (most seem to have multiple yappy little dogs), sure don't want them in our yard, especially with my chickens.

Good plan! Yappy little dogs and spoiled little chickens do not mix!!! :D

Oh ok. Definitely don't want the yappers in with the flock!

Ya got that need to hand a complaint to city hall we have no one on our street but one in the corner facing the other street has like 4 larger pointer size that bark at the chickens more worried one will get out style
That doesn't sound good! I'm happy to have a wall around our backyard. Doesn't keep cats out but I've seen my flock intimidate the one that used to come in the yard. A narrow escape from the dogs early one morning has stopped the issue :gig

Good morning everyone, it's coffee & tea time! I'm delivering today :)
