So far I have confined the chicks to a space of their own, with a window to a little outdoor space of their own. They are hanging at the window wanting out in the worst way, and I think I'll let them out a little later when it warms up. I'm concerned about them getting too far from the heat during the cool morning hours. They are only a week old today.Good morning all. Coffee, hot water and the fixins are ready.
Val I did the same thing recently, moved the brooder into the big coop. I think you're right, integration will be easier. I have 2 AC chicks about 6 weeks old that are already roosting with the big girls; they're great babysitters for the week old d'Uccle chicks.
It's really crazy , especially when I have baby quail! They jump out of the incubator, hit the top of the dresser and jump to the floor! Try and find them amongst the mess in my room. Ugh.I'm trying to imagine that.![]()
I just had a nice nap. Had to get up early for a doctor appointment.Love those early mornings prompted by animals. My cats had me up at 5am for breakfast. Not worth going back to sleep because I go out around 6:20 to let the chickens out. I need a nap!
