The part I hate most about my Dad dying was that I was not able to be there for him.

That's so sad. I'm sorry to hear it. DH was there in the end with his mom, but his sisters have been there throughout. She was not alone and was well cared for. I pray the same was true for your dad.

I got to talk with my dad when he was in Naples Acute care.. Last words I got to say were, I love you, dad... and he replied... "I love you too". That was the very last time I got to speak with him as he went down hill rapidly after that.

My Mom had dementia at that time and my cousin was helping her. I was in the middle of a move to FL, to help them.
