Curious chicken cracked shell of egg due to hatch in two days

24 hours after external pip, or 36 hours after internal pip with no external pip.
If there wasn't any movement, and it hasn't internally pipped yet, it's probably a goner. But you know for next time now.

It’ll be 48 hours by the time I get back home anyways. Oh well, I really didn’t need the chicks that did hatch so it’s probably for the best. But I still hate that

I... I thought the photo of the wax egg was a baked potato. I think little Squash (that’s his name now, I don’t make the rules) will be just fine.

I had to find this thread so I can share it for someone with a similar story and just saw your comment. I had probably seen it and forgot it. ANYWAYS, the baby lived to be a pretty little pullet that lays perfect blue eggs. She doesn't have a name, or I should say, didn't have a name, until now. I'll name her Squash! Haha thank you (even though it's six months late).
