We couldn't grab the third one. But if these are cockerels I'm fairly certain that the speckled one is too😭

I am starting to believe that out of 12 hatched eggs we are going to only end up with 2-3 hens. We knew it was a possibility and have a plan, but it's still a bit disappointing. I shall wait a bit longer and hold out hope 🤞 Nothing like setting yourself up for more disappointment!! 😂😂

When hatching eggs, or buying straight run chicks, I now plan for 2/3 to 3/4 to be males (unless I want males, in which case I expect mostly females).

Either I have the satisfaction of being right, or I get a pleasant surprise

With my last hatch 5/5 boys 🙄
My last batch 7/8 boys, at least I got one girl! :lau

Holy schnikies!! And to think we were planning for 50/50. We were also thinking not all eggs would hatch and some chicks wouldn't survive from our research, especially with mama hen being so young. But all 12 eggs hatched and are growing healthy chicks. We felt so bad for Orpy having to keep track of, and warm during a couple freezing nights, all 12 chicks! Us newbies🙄😂
