Curious question about pea combs. (might be a dumb question)

I happen to have a boy with a pea comb so I checked out the thread.

And I learned something!!!​

You only lost me on the last part, whether the combination of genes (P1,01 P1/o1 stuff) would be a colored layer or not. I *think* you were just referencing dominant and recessive genes, and so you may not visually see the results in F1. I totally get that if you "link" the blue gene to the pea comb by a chick (via crossover or otherwise), that that chick will pass that down to her offspring.

But the closet analogy I TOTALLY get.

The 1 and 2 in my earlier post was to reference which chromosome (aka clothes closet) it came from--I probaby should have indicated that better. No, I wasn't writing about recessives--just that a bird inherited these linked genes from one chromosome most of the time rather than one from one chromosome and the other from the other chromosome.
