So I have read how to and successfully made a boot for my quail's curled toes. It hit me now that while I did that right and he's running around with no issue, no thread that I found ever covered how long to leave the boot on. Info on that would be really helpful. I couldn't even get the answer on YouTube or Google, just how to fix it

I usually wait till they are 24 hours old before even doing it, because sometimes they get over it without needing it. If they do need it, usually 24-48 hours is plenty to fix it. Take it off after 24 and watch for a few hours. Tape again if necessary.

I saw bandaids work for tape but how do you remove the tape or bandaid easily? I’m afraid I will hurt him more

I didn't change the tape, I never saw any forum or Youtube video saying I needed to, and I used a bandaid like I saw several forums and videos saying to. Look like I didn't get enough information even though I looked things up for a good hour

J1Bern, that's my fear too, I'm just gonna have my husband help hold him. I have a gentle hand and think I can get it. I'll let you know if it doesn't work out, in that case I have a thought of maybe topical ointment since it's greasy, then I'll wash his foot, but I think with help I can get it

If the bandaid is sticking to the foot, use an oil to help get it off to avoid damaging the skin. You can use baby oil, mineral oil or coconut oil.

I managed to get it off just fine. I didn't think about the oil though, and I keep teatree oil on had for healing irritated skin to begin with. His foot looks great, we just had to clean the sticky off before we turned him loose on the Aspen floor
