My vote for the next James Bond is Jim Caviezel

X2 on the above posts. I think Jim Caviezel would make a great Bond. The only thing is, he's 47 years old, and I'm not sure they would want to start another Bond run with an actor that old. Age has brought an end to a number of Bond actors runs; Connery, Moore, and Brosnan.

When I watch movies that are made from books, I know that there are usually going to be at least some changes from the books, so I don't get disappointed just because they don't exactly follow the books. I try to judge each movie on its own merits (good plot, good acting, enjoyable, etc.) as though I had not read the book.
