Current Movies - Thumbs UP or Thumbs DOWN

Oh yeah, redbox is $1.50 here too. Our Library has free movies too but usually a year old.
Boston Globe here is $4.50 but I think it is $5 on Cape Cod. I have not bought a paper (for myself, have for my Dad on the Cape) in like 20 years. No reason to anymore.
Coupons are for Name brand things that I don't usually buy anyway. I tried to Coupon Cut but it just was not worth it. Wish they had coupons for Veggies/Fruits.

My brother remembered that Menards ( like a bigger Home Depot) used to sell newspapers cheaper - he found the $5. one for $ 1.50 - turned out to still be worthless, no coupons he uses.

We saw "Dark Tower," this morning. Very empty theatre- don't know why. Brother and I loved it. He gave it 3.5 stars out of 4, but said Idris gets 4 stars for his performance.
I liked the young boy too. I gave movie 5 stars.

I am a great fan, and Idris should be"James Bond." When they were considering him because Daniel Craig pretended he wouldn't do another Bond movie - the talk was Idris was too streetwise. I think that was a very bigoted remark.

I got a kick out of the movie because Idris spoke great English. When I watch his netflix series Luther, he and others speak cockney English and I can't understand a word they say.

as well as stupid - what's it supposed to even MEAN? Daniel Craig's previous roles weren't all la-di-dah elegance either (he played a lot of "yobbos") and as a professional actor Idris can scrub up as well as anybody else. Yes, that nonsense really annoyed me, too. It basically boils down to people wanting a white Bond. I don't see why it can't be done by a black actor. After all, they've now put a woman into the role of Doctor Who, it's surely time for Idris to be James Bond (if he wants to be, of course, he might have better stuff lined up). Nobody thought Daniel Craig was right for the role, and then he knocked everybody dead with his performance.

Luther's hard to understand because they mutter a lot. Some shows are like that, mutter, mumble. I have to use my headphones and I like to watch on DVD so I can rewind, and rewind (and rewind again) to try to catch all the missed dialogue. It isn't just because of the accents.

Thanks for the feedback on the Dark Tower. I think I'll see it now.

I want to say that our Movie prices are $15 per ticket. That sways me on a movie too. I usually do not go and wait till they come out in Redbox or Netflix. I too like to rewind for dialog that I miss.
There are some movies (dark action stuff) that is just better in the big theater. Sound is way better.

Tigger out here at the major chain of theatres, any regular showing starting before noon - is $ 5.00 to $ 5.49. Of course they generally do not have the pre noon shows except on weekend and holidays.

That doesn't include Imax(the shows do NOT have real Imax) , 3 D etc but still charge double or more for tickets. I do quite well without all the extras.

I, on the other hand, spend a fortune when I go to the pictures. I usually don't go very often, it's only recently that I've gone to lots of films. I was sort of viewing it as spending all the money I'd have spent on lots of movies on the one or two I'd go to...

Anyway, the cinema has "gold class" theatres and you can get served food and drink while you watch (you order it beforehand, they just bring it in when the movie's on). I like stuffing my face during the movie. Frankly, with the price of popcorn and soft drinks I'd rather pay for the "proper food" at gold class than drop all that money on chook food. I don't know why they don't have something better than popcorn on offer. A sandwich or a banana or something....

I have built up lots of points so I get free movies now. That defrays some of the cost of "spending up big" on gold class (you get more points)

If I went to every movie coming out like you guys, I'd want to be getting discounts. We can buy discounted tickets through various sources, like a phone company, or health fund. I've got an "entertainment book" (discount voucher book) where you can buy at a discount, but none of the discounted tickets apply to gold class.

On Friday we saw "An Unfortunate Sequel" - unfortunately ! Too much pontificating by Al Gore for me. The Princess actually enjoyed some of the information. It hurts me to give it a 1.5. Today we saw "Wind River". Great scenery, violence, and in the end justice. Karma is indeed a 'B'. I really enjoyed this movie. I'll go a 3.5. deedee, not sure it's your cup of tea.
