Current Movies - Thumbs UP or Thumbs DOWN

I really enjoyed "The Man Who Invented Christmas."

IMHO, it is the perfect Christmas movie.

It is a fictionalized story, but based on true history, of how "A Christmas Carol" came about as seen by Dickens perspective.

I love seeing "Scrooge" or "A Christmas Carol" in live play this time of year, but wasn't able to find a production not charging $$$ this year, so this filled my craving.

The movie truly is a gem. Enjoyable to watch. Good acting. Nice production. Very funny. Anyone who has ever read or seen an adaptation of the "Christmas Carol" will find much to enjoy. Those who are history buffs will find some fun inside jokes.

The trailer looked really good. I expect it's a movie that will do very well on DVD. I know I'm not going to get around to seeing it at the cinema, but I'd like to see it at some stage.

Going to see The Darkest Hour tomorrow before it is out of theaters.

Star Wars will be next week with hubby after crowds die down a bit. Son saw it today and said it surprised him.

Interesting. Hmmm. If I can keep the timeline straight, I should enjoy it. I was half way through Rogue One before I realized it was set before the original Star Wars, episode 4?

Spielberg really confused me with the disorder of the films...I had to watch Rogue One again on Netflix just to make sense of it in the right timeline.

Saw the Star Wars movie "The Last Jedi." yesterday. We got to our area show early, I was first in line, with just a handful of others coming out of their cars to join me. Theatre wasn't open yet. No pushing or shoving just a nice peaceful group except for screeching kids.

I have intensely disliked all Star Wars movies. I have to say I really ENJOYED this one.
My son(32) felt he had to admonish me anyway. He said I only liked it so much because I didn't know any of the back story. Duh!

Saw "Darkest Hour" and enjoyed it.

A little slow in the middle, and not for the action fan, but for those who enjoy well written and acted historical portrayals, there was a lot to enjoy.

I expect the actor who portrayed Churchill to get an Oscar nod.

Still waiting for my Star Wars next week. I also hope to see Jumanji. I saw the one with Robin Williams back in the (80's?). I'll have to see if I can't find that old movie so I can compare the new one.

I will watch "Murder on the Orient Express" when it comes out on Amazon or Netflix. I've seen the Suchet version as well as the earlier one, so since the story will be the same, nothing new here.

"Downsized" looks interesting...anyone see that one yet? Planning to?

Currently working through "Dark" on Netflix...even though dubbed in English (which I usually hate), it is well dubbed so that it doesn't hinder the story. "Dark" is sort of "Glitch" meets "Frequency" meets "Lake House" although nobody comes back to life, and it definitely isn't the feel good of "Lake House". Weirdly fascinating. Being German made, kind of spooky creepy to see Germans up to hijinks again.

.I have to say I really ENJOYED this one..
Yay! Glad you didn't have to sit through another one you didn't like.

His transformation physically is extraordinary, just from the film stills. He's very talented, it would be good if he got recognised for this.
