Current Movies - Thumbs UP or Thumbs DOWN

This is the third time that my movie review has vanished into thin air before I could hit the submit box.

So excuse me for a very abbreviated 4th. attempt. "CHEF," is a sweet, charming, very funny, feel great movie about food and family. My brother and I each rate it 4 stars. I was genuinely disappointed when the credits started to roll, I was not ready for the movie to end. I applauded even though no one else did, this movie deserved it.

My only caveat is one short scene where they are cutting up a pig carcass - starting with the head.
Those of us who don't "process" animals can just look away.

Sour I think you and Princess will really enjoy this one.

LOL-- as a teen I accepted a roasted piglet as it was an annual event among my mother and her friends. lol. Now I have to turn away. ANd to top it off I do process my own. LOL

Glad CHef is a good one-- is it suitable for 10 year old budding chef, or too mature a theme ?

I think this movie would be right up your son's alley. Despite a friendly divorce, the father spends little time with the boy. Things change when the son accompanies him during summer break and learns about cooking.

Finding Normal..

If you are on netflix watch that one. I turned it on last night to have noise to help me sleep an I failed. An hour an a half later I was wide awake watching the credits roll. Its rated NR but should be G rated. Its a christian based story but its done right. Unlike Fire Proof, its part of the story an plays well in it making a great movie.

Just saw "The Fault in Our Stars," yesterday. Very good movie I give it 3 stars. As a story about a guy and a girl that meet cute at a cancer support group - I think it kept a nice balance - not so sweet that your teeth rot and not so maudlin that you can't see through the tears. Very good performances by the major actors/actresses.

Well I got talked into seeing "The Fault in Our Stars". 'Chick flick' - I think that the Princess liked it. As she sobbed into my handkerchief, she said, "This is a HORRIBLE movie." Me, I scored some Brownie points. We did not go to one of our usual theaters. Our daughter got us gift cards to a theater where you can actually have a meal during the show. A new experience, and pretty neat at that.

Thanks Sour - I usually don't cry at movies except when a dog or something is killed.

I did see "Edge of Tomorrow," starring Tom Cruise and Emily Blunt. My brother and I enjoyed it very much. Cruise was certainly in his element, and Emily was allowed to be a strong, sharp role model.

At first I pegged it as a knock off of "Source Code meets Ground Hog Day," but, when actually seeing the movie it had more of a video game feel "fight, die, restart. I've never liked video games. However the effect was both interesting and humorous.

I didn't understand the ending so if anyone does - please enlighten me. I think it was just a basis for "Edge of Tomorrow 2"

PS Sour, wish Princess would take you to see "Chef." No crying required - feel good movie.
