We saw the new Captain America Movie last night and LOVED IT. Well done! They actually caught me by surprise a couple of times!

I was feeling like no one else in the world wanted to see this movie. I have had a crush on the Captain America actor since I first saw him as Johnny Storm in "Fantastic Four."Of course I can't recall his real name at this minute- duh! I also really liked "Falcon.'"

oh, I can see why someone could be infatuated with him...definitely could see it.

I loved the interaction between him and Black Widow and I also loved Falcon. trying to think of something I DIDN"T like about the movie and failing. it was stellar across the book. action, character development, storyline...it has it all!!!

but wow...Robert redford is really looking old now. that kinda shocked me a bit but he did a great job with his role.

Oh yes, when I think of Redford, I just see him with Paul Newman when they did" Butch Cassidy and the Sundance kid." Or Redford in "The Natural."

I think that's why I never went to a class reunion . I don't want my school mates to be old and all 'dinged up' by life's interactions. I want them to be just like I remember them - still kids, young, happy and hopeful.

Life is like being thrown inside a dryer - when you come out, your jacket is inside out, one sock is in a pocket, the other won't turn up. Your red shirt has lost color in the process of bleeding all over your white t's,and your darks are full of kleenex lint because you didn't check before going in.

Good grief, Redford stirred up all of this ????

Deedee in spite of your evaluation, we went to see "American Hustle". I should have listened to you - I could not 'buy' in to this movie at all. Parts bored the heck out of me, and I was continually aware that it was a 'movie'. Last week we saw "August, Osage County". The movie is a little bit frenetic, but performances are good - especially Roberts and Streep. Good entertainment if dysfunctionality is your thing.

I agree about August: Osage County. Loved the acting. We watched it two nights in a row this past weekend. I brought out memories that I try to keep suppressed. The difference between Vi and my mother is that Vi occasionally apologized after verbally ripping one of her daughters apart. I didn't' think the language was as much of an issue as some people do. I think at least some of it needed to be there. It wouldn't have had the ring of truth without the hateful, vulgar mudslinging. I think I'll watch it again in preparation for Mother's Day. I have made peace with my past and realize that my mother did the best she could raising six girls. She lived what she learned. For us sister's, all but one broke the circle of violence and abuse that we were prone to repeat.

I had just about given up on movies because of the violence. As I aged, I got less able to tolerate it without horrible nightmares and obsessive replaying of the violence in my head. I think I would like to start seeing movies again, just choosing wisely.
So, I'll be back!

GODZILLA, 3 1/2 stars from my brother who had never seen previous ones. From me - overlong, Godzilla doesn't make an appearance for about an hour - ends up a supporting actor in his own movie. Godzilla has let himself go over the years. He is fat, short necked, with oddly rectangular metal looking jaws.

I haven't been to the movies for over 6 weeks because they have been so bad. There was so much good word about Godzilla, I felt I had to see for myself. It was entertaining in it's own way and I believe the ones that love it are ones that never saw the 1954, black and white version. I DID see the original as a 7 yr. and it frightened me especially the ending.

I just re-watched the original courtesy of Netflix streaming. With both movies fresh in my mind, of a highest rating of 4, I GIVE FIVE (5)to the original GODZILLA KING OF THE MONSTERS. Despite being black and white, cardboard scenery, no CGI, no stirring sound track, no highfalutin actors.
The old Godzilla is the real deal, the new one not so much!

New /old Godzilla fans - if at all possible view both the old and the new and please give your opinion.

PS. Netflix also has three other old Godzilla movies, I will watch as soon as time permits.

Ps squared - Raymond Burr stars in the original Godzilla - his role is especially notable for how often he smokes his pipe - despite dire happenings around him. Really irritated me.

Sour and Princess, is there any chance you have seen this movie and perhaps the original? I would especially love to hear your views.

deedee, didn't see the original, and I doubt that we will see the remake. The last movie that we saw was August Osage County. Between the Princess being in a couple of plays, spring work, and me going to/preparing for field trials we just haven't had time. She actually got conned into taking a part time job.

I think there are a couple of movies that she wants to see, so ----------------- maybe.
