Current Movies - Thumbs UP or Thumbs DOWN

Big fan of the old 'Mad Max' movies, can't wait to see the new one I hear its real good. Hoping our drive in plays it next weekend. Love the drive in two movies for the price of one. Bring our own drinks and snacks, beer when the wife allows it lol.

I love the Mad Max movies as well; especially the Road Warrior and Beyond Thunderdome.

Agreed Michael, I saw those two and loved them - that was long before Mel fell out of favor. Nicholas Hoult is in the new one, probably as a "throwaway" character who will end up dead or worse. But still want to see it.

Our show has it in Imax and 3d so they can gouge you on tickets. I'm hoping they will calm down in a week or so and have it in ordinary 2d.

Hi Drumstick Diva

Hope I didn't offend you with the elelphant pic, its just they are in a reserve near and they don't normally come so close. - agree about the movies there is so much time wasting stuff, boring and generally depressing, that I also go for the TV. Have you watched the Black List with James Spader its awesome and he is awesome in it. As far as the diabetes goes my husband is absolutely impossible, if there is sugar ANYWHERE he finds it, munches all day long on snacks and then says 'oh well will jab up somemore'. He can't feel his his feet and is always hurting them when he takes the dogs for a walk. I have to watch hin like a hawk for leg swelling - its like having a child, but a big one. He banged his toe the other day and doesn;t know how, and of course it got an infection, his leg swelled up to the size of a tree trunk and had to get anti biotics then he forgets to take his pills for two days Really all of us keep telling him that he should take more care but he just won;t listen.

Have you ever saw a 3d movie? I haven't either except for a show at Disney in FL and it was awesome! I don't know how they do it but it isn't just 3d on the screen, it comes right up to your seat!

Did you see James Spader in 'Crash'? That was a weird one, but good. My grandpa was the same on his diabetes, grandma watched him like a hawk poor guy he loved hersheys chocolate syrup, I remember one time at my little brothers graduation party grandma freaking out, we already gave him a small piece of cake, a small one, "Ohh my god, who gave that to him" he had a piece of cake the size of his plate! "What" he says trying to act not guilty, gramma says his sugar is going to be the death of him! No more cake for you! He lost his plate size cake he tried to sneak, but I gave him a beer and he was fine, gramma was not happy with me, ohh well lol!

Seriously though, I miss them both, just died both of them last year, gramma pancreatic cancer and grampa probably because she was gone and not screaming at him to keep alive anymore, they were only in their early 70s, my reminder to take care of my health both had diabetes and overweight and lots of stress heart problems. No stress here and eating healthy, best I can do.

Beer can I've seen a lot of 3 d and Imax movies but that was years ago when someone else was buying the tickets. It was weird to have the characters seem so close to your face, that you almost touch them. They used to cue you in the movie to put on your 3d glasses., and then take them off. Too much bother.

Actually I prefer the 2 D. I care more about what is going on in the movie and little for CGI and special effects. My home tv is small and when I stream shows its on a small monitor. I like being that close up so I can really see the characters. Plus no kids kicking my seat from behind like at the movies, or people next to me sticking their bare feet on the head rest of the row in front of them. UGH. You never see ushers out here until the movies over and they clean up.

Once in awhile we go to the Museum of Science and Industry in Chicago, it has a huge true Imax screen and you don't need 3D glasses. The first couple times I started getting sick from it - all the movement (wrap around) and things jumping out, made me feel

. Then I learned just to focus on the front of the screen and gradually let myself look at the wider view. Now I just ease back and take it all in. The rest of the family where fine with it - but, I'm the type that would get seasick in a bath tub (just take showers).

My brother says the Imax at Navy Pier in Chicago is even better, I'll just take his word for it. Chicago is just too congested, fast paced and busy for me. Plus major expensive.

Whoop Whoop you didn't offend me. I enjoy what you see at your part of the world. I won't get to see it otherwise. The zoo out here finally stopped having elephants, they had too many dying and the public caused a major outcry.

When you see TV shows of them in the wild, you can see how important the family structure is to them. How they grieve when one dies? How they react when they find bones of other elephants, there is so much intelligence and empathy - the zoo is a horrible place for them. I feel the same about the gorillas. Actually the older I get, the less I like visiting a zoo. No matter how large the enclosure, it is just not at all like the life the animals would be living in the wild.

They pace back and forth, they are so bored and limited. I've heard, for instance, at a certain zoo that had an overflow of giraffes, that they were butchering them to feed lions etc. sometimes giving them the whole carcass to tear apart. The spectators actually loved watching that. Not for me. Its one thing for animals in the wild to hunt for food and make kills and another to stage it as entertainment and sell more tickets. I would not have been watching gladiators in the arena either.

There are just two major features for me at the zoo, lunch and the many gift shops. Otherwise I just like walking the grounds, very scenic

So sorry about your grandparents

I agree totally with you about zoos and also circuses (is that a word)! I simply will not go. We have a couple of zoos here in Jo'burg but not really keen on going, I think they have polar bears which seems so wrong,as it gets so hot here. They are always losing their snakes so am glad I don't live near. Not that I mind snakes, just mambas they are the psychopaths of the snake world and will bite anything. Its spiders I hate, especially those huge ones, they terrify me and thy always always come to me. My hubby was drinking a cup of coffee and an enormous one was wrapped round the cup, he is not known for his observance and I was so speechless when he picked it up I couldn't warn him, but he really didn't mind. just flicked it off a couple of times. Needless to say I was long gone...

The other thing that really gets me going is racehorses, they use them, abuse them, then sell them for dog food and they are so young. I got one for my daughter years ago now, but it was just too fiesty for her. We paid the lady who ran the stables to keep her so she could grow old in comfort and not be ridden anymore, which was a much better option. Thing is I just don't have to money now to rescue them and there are so many, its so sad...

Have to just say you must see Pitch Perfect 2, its absolutely hilarious I laughed from the beginning to the end. They bring in a new character and not quite sure where they are going with that but otherwise it is so funny you will enjoy I am sure..

I was wondering if anyone caught Mad Max this weekend. I saw that it is getting excellent reviews from both critics and fans on Rotten Tomatoes. I know it was rated R for violence, and was wandering if there was anything else in it that contributed to the R rating.

I haven't seen the new one but the old ones were very gory, violence. I don't think there is any of sexual nature but I could be wrong. The review says Charlize rescues women who were kept as sex slaves for the Biggest Baddie.

Ear plugs might make the experience nicer.
